Following her graduation from Illinois State University in 1981, Mrs. Kasten earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Stetson University College of law in 1984. Mrs. Kasten joined Adams, Coogler, Watson, Merkel, Barry & Kellner, P.A. in 1985 and was a shareholder of the firm from 1991 until 2003. After a leave of absence, Mrs. Kasten has resumed the practice of law and is "Of Counsel" to the firm.

Mrs. Kasten has concentrated her practice in the areas of construction litigation, commercial and contract litigation, products liability and professional liability defense. She has lectured on various aspects of risk management as well as construction claims and litigation.

In the local community, Mrs. Kasten has been affiliated with Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, the Association of General Contractors and Sunfest of Palm Beach County. She is a former Board Member of the Executive Committee of The Ambassadors of Jupiter Medical Center. The Ambassadors is a voluntary organization committed to promoting Jupiter Medical Center and its status in the health care field. Mrs. Kasten has served as a member and Chair of the Board of Good Shepard Episcopal School.
